Urban farming experiential learning workshops for adults

Organization Earth implements experiential learning workshops for marginalized groups, including the long-term unemployed, people with disabilities, migrants, asylum seekers and refugees, and focuses on themes such as organic gardening, food waste, upcycling and composting. The workshops take place in the environmental park “Center of the Earth” as well as in free urban gardens in Attica region. Trainees will gain new skills especially in the agriculture sector and as a result they will improve the sustainability of their place of residence and have positive effects on food, security, nutrition, livelihoods and self-esteem. After the completion of the workshops, they will have the potential to assist in the production of food by planting vegetables, beautify their gardens, and integrate in the labor market by increasing their professional skills as well as affecting their social interaction and self-esteem.

Urban farming focused on women’s empowerment

The urban farming workshops combine classes in gardening and planting techniques and various uses of aromatic herbs. Urban agriculture and greening workshops provide a safe space especially for vulnerable women to socialize and to develop or improve their social and professionals’ skills. The workshops take place in the environmental park “Center of the Earth” as well as in free urban gardens in Attica region.

Hope Refugee Football Club

Organization Earth gives the opportunity to refugees, asylum seekers men and women to participate in the Hope Refugee Football Club. The team aims to facilitate players’ integration and social inclusion by offering them the chance not only to play football but also to seek for skills development and working opportunities. The added value of the Hope Refugee FC. lies in the fact that the team does not focus on football itself, rather uses it as a means to bring together refugees from different accommodation centers, backgrounds and countries of origin.
